The German Mixed relay missed the third World Cup title in a row at the triathlon in Hamburg. The host quartet came third on Sunday. Australia won before France.

Lisa Tertsch, Lasse Nygaard Priester, Tanja Neubert and Henry Graf had a swimming, seven kilometers of cycling and 1.75 kilometers are seven seconds behind the relay from Down Under. “I’m super happy and proud of the medal,” said Priest in the Sportschau interview.

Tertsch was the first to go on the track and, after a strong final sprint, handed over to priest as the third, who initially settled off the field on the bike route with five other athletes. But the pursuers had opened up before running, so that 15 athletes went on the running track practically simultaneously.

Single winner Hauser not to be beat

Priest then put on the pace properly and sent Neubert into the race to position one that was still open. The French Olympic champion Cassandre Beaubrand finally ran a lead of seven seconds to Great Britain and eight to Neubert, which was handed over to Graf.

The individual fifth from the previous day again showed a strong appearance and was part of a top five group that went to the crucial 1,750 meters. Among them was none other than Matthew Hauser, who won the single race on Saturday.

And Hauser underpinned his exceptional position, attracted irresistible in the finish and secured Australia ahead of France and the German quartet.
