It is a picture of brutal destruction: After a rocket attack on a shopping center in the Podilsky district of Kiev, nothing can be seen of the former magnificent building! Instead, a smoking skeleton of steel rises up into the Kiev sky, pieces of debris lie everywhere, and a meter-sized crater gapes in the ground. The force of the impact left no stone unturned.
The neighborhood that was shelled on Monday is also home to Andriy Melnyk (46), the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany. He was shocked after the attack on the shopping center and said to BILD: “We live here. Therefore, this murderous rocket attack also hit my family in the heart. We’re really angry!”
He tweeted: “You Russian bastards will pay dearly for this!”
The balance of the horror night: at least 8 dead. Surrounding buildings were also destroyed. During the night, helpers rescued at least one injured person from the rubble of the former shopping center. The force of the rocket attack is unimaginable. The impact was reportedly heard throughout the capital.
