The encounter between HIFK and HJK/Kantsu on Sunday in the men’s football third led to a scandal.
The lower league match played at Brahenkenta had to be temporarily interrupted as HIFK supporters penetrated the field. Some of them also accessed HJK players.
HIFK released on their website On Tuesday night, a news release under the title “Public apology”.
The club announced that it would apologize for HJK/Kantsu, HJK ry, and especially the HJK/Kantu player, whose integrity was broken.

– Football has a lot of emotions, but fear is not part of the football field – or violence in any form. Sports must be fair and fun, regardless of who is an opponent, the release writes.
The club emphasizes that the safety of players and viewers is the most important single thing for match events.
– We will evaluate our own ways of working, enhance policy control, and discuss with supporters who have broken the integrity of the player.
HIFK says that the investigation has succeeded in identifying every person who has rushed to the field. The club plans to have personal conversations with everyone and set them individual sanctions.
– However, this is only the first step. It is clear that we need a deeper and more continuous dialogue with our supporters to prevent similar events in the future.
