Un Spanish friend, a great wine expert, asks me for help for visit some cellars in the Langhe: that of Bartolo Mascarello and that of Giuseppe Rinaldi. Instinctively I reply: but Bartolo Mascarello and Giuseppe Rinaldi died. Unfortunately it is so, though The cellars are still there, and are carried out by whom? By daughters.
So Marta and Carlotta Rinaldi and Maria Teresa Mascarello will welcome my friend. That I hope it will also go to Roberta Ceretto (Bruno is still alive for heaven’s sake, but Roberta already has the reins of the company). Just as Gaia and Rossana Gaja advance. Pio Cesare Boffa’s daughter. The daughters of Roberto Conterno. And other young producers. Even on the Langhe, now, the wine is female. So it is also in Sicily: I think we have already told ourselves the story of Planeta, in my opinion one of the best whites in the world.
Consumption is in our imagination associated with man, from Ulysses to our grandparents who had the “Pintun” on the Langhe, the bottles of the taverns. In reality, the wine now, of course, that it is, not only do they drink it but they also do it, if not above all, women.

The criminalization of wine seems madness to me. Personally, I don’t like beer or spirits. I respect those who make them and those who drink them. I remember that the beer market and that of spirits are worth in terms of money incomparably more and certainly hurt health.
Beer is one of the foods with the highest glycemic index. The spirits, of course, make much worse than the wine: wine with the greatest gradation, for example Amarone, has almost two thirds of alcohol less than a crossing. And then the wine is literature, it is culture. As Angelo Gaja taught the French grandmother, Clotilde Rey: to do, knowing how to do, knowing how to make it known. What else is there to add?
