The death of Diogo Jota shocked the football world. The Portuguese was buried on Saturday. Shortly afterwards there were inglorious scenes at his grave.

On Thursday, Liverpool star Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva were fatal in a car accident in Spain. Two days later, the two siblings were buried in the small church of their home town of Gondomar near Porto.

Numerous companions from the Portuguese international, including teammates such as Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson came to the funeral service. Rúben Neves, who had played with Al-Hilal at the club World Cup in the USA the day before and shed bitter tears for Jota’s minute’s silence, was also on site. Together with Jota’s family and close friends, they said goodbye to the two footballers.

At the end of the funeral service, the two simple wooden coffins were worn into the ringing of bells from the church. The funeral procession towards the cemetery was led by priests. Diogo Jota’s wife Rod Cardoso could also be seen in pictures.

What happened? According to the report, the cemetery in which Jota was buried was made open to the public shortly after the funeral. Then officers would have closed him again. The reason: selfie hunter. People had taken photos of themselves at the grave, it is said.

The British tabloid “The Sun” also reports on the scenes of Jota’s grave. The police had moved through a large crowd that had gathered there. After the cemetery was cleared by the official, people should have returned to the grave shortly afterwards.
