The Red confirms the performance of Friday. Better Mercedes with low temperatures. The session ends with the accidents of Bortoleto and Bearman
Leclerc’s Ferrari is in front of everyone in the free practice 3 of the Great Britain GP. It was the confirmation that it was needed, after a Friday where the Red surprised, even coming to contend for the role of favorite to the usual McLaren. Just the Papaya duo hid until the last, then marking the second half with Oscar Piastri in the final stages of the session, detached of 68 thousandths from the Monegasque. Third the Red Bull of Max Verstappenonly 87 thousandths of the summit distant. A perfect appetizer for the qualification, with really close values between the top teams and without forgetting the unknown rain. The second McLaren of Lando Norris, followed by Tsunoda and an excellent Bearman, protagonist in the final of an accident returning to pit lane. Only eleventh Hamilton, seemed particularly in tune with his Ferrari but forced to abort his best lap for the exhibition of a double red flag for the release of Gabriel Bortoleto’s track.
the Ferrari
–
It is certainly the best Ferrari of the year that in Silverstone saw Charles Leclerc in first position in the free 3 after Hamilton’s best time in the FP1. The SF-25-updated in Austria with the new fund-seemed particularly balanced on the English circuit, where the smooth asphalt allowed the Cavallino technicians to stirring the structure by enhancing the aerodynamic skills of the single-seater. To make Maranello’s men smile is then the absence of problems in bringing the tires to temperatures despite the decidedly colder temperatures than on Friday (however more similar to what the drivers will meet in the race). Both Leclerc and Hamilton have confirmed the positive comments in view of the qualification, where Ferrari will be in full struggle for pole position.
qualification simulation
–
A few hours after the qualifications, scheduled at 16 Italians, all the pilots focused on the dry tour simulation. Behind Ferrari, he seemed most in shape on the Silverstone track, there is the usual McLaren, who remained hidden until the last but certainly fighting for pole position. Third and near (unless one tenth by Leclerc) also Max Verstappen, who chose to confirm the unloading set -up at the rear on his Red Bull. The lowering of temperatures did not help Mercedes, with the first of the two W16 in eighth position with Russell detached from over six tenths from the top. Finally, all the drivers were forced to abort the last attempt of the session for the accident of Gabriel Bortoleto, who lost control of his Sauber after the failure of the front suspension. Botto also for Bearman, in the barrier while returning to Pit Lane at the end of FP3.
