The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature (LVVN) ensures with a so -called exemption scheme that paraveterinaries with a diploma from before 2012 can register again in the Veterinary Charter Register. Registration is mandatory for anyone who works as a paraveterinary. Practice shows that some of them were not aware of their registration obligation, did not register at the time and that this is no longer possible, while the workload within this sector is already high.
State Secretary Jean Rummenie: ”Paraveterinires play an indispensable role in the care of our animals and are essential in the field. Good people are desperately needed. That is why it is important that their knowledge and skills are used well and that we hopefully reduce the high work pressure. ”
Indispensable forces
In recent years, the diploma requirements for veterinary medicine professionals have changed. As a result, veterinarian para-veterinary reasons with a diploma from before 2012 could no longer be admitted to the mandatory veterinary medicine register. Since 2012, only the four-year-old MBO course has been giving veterinary assistant paraveterian access to the Veterinary Charter Register. Until 2018 there was a so -called transitional law and registration could also be requested with previously certain diplomas. After 2018 this was no longer possible. The Veterinary Charter Register signaled that the number of refusals increased as a result.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature therefore ensures that this group can still register in the register. The condition is that the diplomas obtained meet the set quality requirements for veterinary assistant paraveterinaires.
Here Is an overview of training that falls under this exemption scheme.
The Veterinary Character Register
Veterinarians and paraveterinires are legally obliged to register in the Veterinary Charter Register to perform their work. The register is an important part of the quality assurance of veterinary medicines, but also for the trust between veterinary medicines and animal owners.
The Veterinary Medical Register was renewed at the end of 2024. It turned out that there is still a blow in optimization, such as the search functionality. The CIBG, the manager of the Veterinary Medicine Register, is working on a solution that will be implemented this summer.
