Fashion store Van Tilburg in Nistelrode will open ‘just’ at nine o’clock on Wednesday morning. On Tuesday afternoon a tube of the sprinkler installation piece with a water ballet as a result. Director Paul van Tilburg says that there is ‘serious damage’. “But we have worked with man and power to make everything anhydrous to be able to open as well as possible.”

Van Tilburg and his employees have had a spicy day. Because from the jumped water supply for the sprinkler installation, which is meant to extinguish fire, just kept spraying water. What the cause of the jumped water supply is is unclear. There is no smoke or fire, because the sprinkler installation itself did not go off.

Serious damage
The result of the broken tube was that the ‘men’s casual’ department was quite white on the second floor, but the water also ran down. “I think the damage to the interior is greater than to the clothing collection. I was not too bad,” says the director.

Van Tilburg does not dare to say how great the damage is. “But that it is more than a few thousand euros, you can assume that. But the damage experts come to look on Wednesday morning.”

Put everything
No fewer than fifty people have done everything to clean up as much water as possible. “And we are still working on it. I also remain standby to help in any way,” says Van Tilburg.

The director of one of Brabant’s largest fashion stores sounds a bit tired on the phone, but is proud of his employees and determined when it comes to Wednesday morning. “We just open and see what is and what is not possible, but we open.”
