He had actually wanted to live in the stately, monumental Huize Hoogstraaten on Spoorstraat in Nijkerk, together with his wife Klasien. But when Klasien got dementia and eventually died last month, the Nijkerk entrepreneur Gerard van den Tweel had to make a choice. “I want to keep this building for elderly care in Nijkerk, but until then refugees from Ukraine can use it.”
