Retail association boss Genth calls for compulsory corona vaccination

The general manager of the German Trade Association (HDE), Stefan Genth, has again spoken out in favor of compulsory vaccination. “It is still possible to prevent us from facing significant restrictions with dramatic consequences again in a few months,” said Genth of the “Passauer Neue Presse” (Saturday). An increase in the vaccination rate is necessary for this. “Unfortunately, voluntarily was obviously not a goal-oriented way. Therefore, a general vaccination obligation must finally be decided and implemented.”

Genth described the fact that the federal and state governments could not agree on a uniform line in corona policy as “regrettable”. “It is important to have a uniform approach in regions that are particularly affected by the infection process in order to create planning security for retailers.”

The Bundestag passed the controversial new Infection Protection Act on Friday, which stipulates that most nationwide corona requirements will expire this Sunday. However, it allows the countries to temporarily maintain most protective measures for another two weeks – until April 2nd. (dpa)
