At the beginning of the eighties in Hamburg. The last student hanging types had been boiled in the urban soup hippiesk establishments such as the uncle Pö and other sparks. Among other things, the Coroners, a punk group that had existed since 1977, had dissolved and now continued as a front. From the beginning mythenum, it was published, it was a good tone, with Alfred Hilsberg’s Zick-Zack label a first single and an EP.
Recommendations of the editorial team
Contemporary witnesses still report that the expectations of this new formation were great, as many had already convinced many. Under the influence of UA Dub and Wave, this music was casual and danceable. An early form of club sound with shares of what should be techno. Textlessly, the usual topics of other bands (state, concrete, monotony, emotional emptiness) were also played, but the whole thing had some rhythmic, staccatoafes in itself, in short: it was new, attractive and anything but desolate.
An album should have been created, was even announced for 1981, but it turned out differently. Ralf Hertwig got in with Palais Schaumburg, Jürgen Keller toured Andreas Dorau and so somehow fiber. The project was silent. Now Andreas Dorau, a fan of the very beginning, has pressed the front member Joern Zimmermann, finally, almost 45 years later, to take care of the announced release. In fact, old demos could be composed, which was so long of a publication. It sounds great. Crunchy and actually pretty today. Driving industrial beats, determined male singing, straightforward texts. Yes, it is better than much that has so far been considered a musical crowning glory of the Hamburg Underground of that days. History is written here, but unfortunately very delayed.
