Steven Spielberg doesn’t think of quitting. At the ceremonial inauguration of a new high-tech cinema on the site of the Universal Studios in Los Angeles, the director was honored duly on Thursday evening (June 26th). He unequivocally announced: “I make a lot of films and do not intend to ever rest.”
The new venue, simply called Steven Spielberg Theater, is the heart of the 84,000 square meter new building “The Commons”. It is a futuristic building that is modeled on a rotating film strip and is part of an environmentally friendly campus conversion at Universal. Spielberg was largely integrated into the design.
Universal recognized not only one of the most important filmmakers in film history, but also over 50 years of partnership. NBCuniversal Entertainment chief Donna Langley spoke of a place “full of hope and dreams” for the filmmakers of the future at the ceremony-and praised Spielberg’s influence on the studio and the global cinema.
Steven Spielberg: These stars congratulated
Numerous celebrities and companions played the honor, including John Travolta, Vin Diesel, Dakota Fanning, Jeff Goldblum, Seth Rogen, Ke Huy Quan, Colman Domingo as well as the directors Jon M. Chu, Daniels and Kevin Williamson. The comcast tip with CEO Brian L. Roberts and President Mike Cavanagh was also on site.
Spielberg, who recently worked as a producer on “Jurassic World Rebirth”, described the current studio era as “rebirth”. In his usual charming way, he made it clear: “And I don’t mean Jurassic World Rebirth, who starts on July 2.” Rather, he praised the new sense of community at Universal – “a family”, as he called it.
The director caused a big surprise with the exclusive preview of his new, still unsatisfied film, the first action film since “Ready Player One” from 2018. In the scenes shown, Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor were seen – on the run from government agents in a black SUV. The film is said to contain science fiction elements and is based on a story of Spielberg itself.
