ALocal has appointed Ted van de Loo as an informant. He has been instructed to set up a new coalition around 1 April.
That reports broadcaster Venlo† Before that he was in Oirschot and Boekel, also in North Brabant. He is also a board member of the Knowledge Point for Local Political Parties.
Leading the way
ALokaal remained the largest party in Venlo in the elections last Wednesday. The party won 8 seats, a gain of one compared to 2018. That is why it is also taking the lead in coalition formation.
A spokesperson for EenLokaal informs the Venlo broadcaster that the date of approximately April 1 for a new coalition is fast but feasible. “We have prepared ourselves and it can all be arranged fairly quickly,” he says.
First conversations
Informant Van de Loo is conducting the first talks this week. Discussions will be held with the second largest party, the CDA – seven seats – and the winners PvdA, GroenLinks, the Venlo Seniors Party (VSP) and D66.
split off
The PvdA went from 4 to 5 seats, GroenLinks from 3 to 4 and the VSP was good for 4 seats on its debut. It should be borne in mind that the VSP is a split from 50Plus with alderman Sjors Peeters as the party leader. 50Plus won 3 seats in 2018. VSP did one seat better. D66 rose from one to three seats.
Party leader and councilor Frans Schatorjé of EenLokaal previously announced that due to the loss of seats, the VVD and PVV will not be involved in the talks about a new coalition in the first instance. And the new one-man factions of DENK and Forum for Democracy are seen as too small.
