Promes was arrested last week in his own home in the Gulf state, just after midnight. There he was transferred to a detention center in Dubai.
The Public Prosecution Service (OM) worked on the extradition of Promes in Dubai. The football player was not allowed to leave the country. The Public Prosecution Service comes out when promes is on Dutch soil with more information.
Cocaine trade
The born Amsterdammer was convicted in the Netherlands for cocaine trade and for stabbing his cousin. He received 6 and 1.5 years in prison respectively. He was never off. Since his departure at Ajax in 2021, the attacker has played football in Russia and Dubai. The Netherlands has no extradition treaty with Russia. Since 2021, the Netherlands has an extradition treaty with the United Arab Emirates, which includes Dubai.
Promes appealed against both cases. Earlier he indicated that he only wanted to be physically present if he was not arrested on arrival in the Netherlands. He previously announced that request in a conversation with RTL Boulevard.
