Scheeßel, Lower Saxony – The popular Hurricane Festival in Scheeßel is under the influence of an extraordinary weather conditions in 2025. As the German Weather Service (DWD) reports, there is no storm front with rain and thunderstorms such as 2024 – but the exact opposite: extreme heat.

Heat wave instead of storm

The German Weather Service warns of a dangerous situation. Because, according to the DWD, the Hurricane will be one of the main thing this year: “Crunchy hot.” In the days before the start of the festival, the temperatures rise significantly, then Tuesday (June 17th) and Wednesday (June 18) already 27 degrees, and then for the festival:

  • Thursday, June 19: 18–23 ° C, mostly dry
  • Friday, June 20: 24 ° C and sunny
  • Saturday, June 21: temperatures close 30 ° C
  • Sunday, June 22nd: well over 30 ° C
  • Monday (day of departure): similarly hot

Festival under extreme conditions

While the conditions at the start on Thursday are still pleasant, experts warn, especially before the weekend: temperatures beyond the 30-degree brand can quickly become a health risk when celebrating, little shade and alcohol can become a health risk.

Recommendations: Protect against protecting the heat

The DWD gives clear behavioral recommendations for dealing with the heat:

  • Laying physical activities to the early morning hours if possible
  • Drink enough – not just beer, but above all water
  • Avoid direct sunlight
  • Do without great effort
  • Wear airy, bright clothes
  • Don’t forget the headgear
  • Use cold arm and foot baths for refreshment
  • Avoid or moderate alcohol consumption
  • Prefer easy food

But it is also clear that some of these information should turn out to be difficult at the Hurricane Festival. The combination of a festival atmosphere, long concert days and limited retreat makes the responsible use of the heat all the more important.
