The most common signs of burnout at work were a large number of tasks and monotony.

Two-thirds of Russians consider themselves to be burnt out, and most of them attribute this to too many tasks. The most common consequences of burnout are chronic fatigue, sleep problems, and anxiety.

Burnt-out employees are half as likely to exercise regularly and eat less well, and are also more likely to experience chronic fatigue or sleep problems, according to a survey conducted by the BestDoctor corporate health service. RBC has the results of the study.

The survey involved 1,900 working Russians, two-thirds of them (62%) consider themselves emotionally burnt out. Most of them – 72% – reported that they understand the reasons for their burnout.

Among the reasons for burnout related to work, the research participants named too many tasks – it was noted by half (49%) of the respondents. In second place is the monotony of work – a third (31%) of the respondents consider their tasks to be such. Also, every fourth respondent noted the lack of career prospects and the inability to influence the results of the company.

When talking about burnout symptoms, respondents noted chronic fatigue (45% of those surveyed), sleep problems (51%), intermittent anxiety (71%) and persistent anxiety (26%).
