SV Waldhof Mannheim will go to the coming third division season after the successful relegation with coach Dominik Glawogger. The club confirmed that he had agreed on it with the second division relegated SSV Jahn Regensburg. The 35-year-old Austrian had already signed a contract there in spring. Regenburg initially assumed that he would take up the position from July 1st. The contract has now been terminated.

“We are very happy that an agreement with Jahn Regensburg could be reached and Dominik Glawogger will continue to work for the SV Waldhof Mannheim. He kept calm in the tense situation of the relegation battle and led us to relegation. It was therefore clear to us that we would like to go into the future with him as head coach,” said Waldhof sports director Gerhard Zuber on Monday.

Glawogger said: “I would like to thank the entire club for the trust they have placed in them. We have shown our internal unity and great support of the fans in the last games. From the first training session, we are required as a team to improve our way of playing and fitness. A trusting and great passion will be the basis for increasing our points week after week.”

Glawogger took over Waldhof Mannheim from Trares

The former U19 coach of Holstein Kiel took over in Mannheim by Bernhard Trares in mid-April. With an average of 1.33 points from six third division games, Glawogger and his team managed to stay in 16-three points above the line.

Mannheim’s sports director Mathias Schober said: “With Dominik we made the right choice in the end of the season. His meticulous work gave the team a clear handwriting and was a major factor for relegation. I am very pleased that we were able to find a solution together with Jahn Regensburg and continue working with Dominik.”
