A step back. After two weekends of the race ended in the podium for Ferrari, with Charles Leclerc third in Munich and Spain, Cavallino’s team returns outside the first three positions in Canada, on an anonymous Sunday with the fifth place for Charles Leclerc at the checkered flag and the sixth for Lewis Hamilton. The duo of Maranello, facilitated by the accident at the end of the race of Lando Norris (who before the retreat was in fifth position in front of the reds), appeared disappointed by the results of Montreal, who report the Italian stable third in the World Cup in 16 Points of detachment from Mercedes and 191 from the distant McLaren.

NOVELTY’

“Clearly we now need updates – said the seven times the seven times English world champion – and I don’t know why we are not bringing them, however, and I hope, that one will arrive shortly”. Words that partly diverge from those of the Principal Fred Vasseur who at the end of the GP said he did not consider the updates so essential for the resolution of the problems of the Red: “They will soon arrive but I don’t think that the technical innovations are the main problem – reiterated the Team Principal – because when you make the record in the first sector in qualifying it is not that the machine does not work or we have to bring updates”. According to Vasseur, the key would instead be in the construction of the weekend: “The most important thing is to focus on ourselves to do a clean job for the whole weekend and that’s not what we have done in this weekend”, explained the Team Principal.

REQUESTS

Hamilton, who during the GP was slowed down by a problem with the car caused by having invested a marmot on the track, in the post race expressed himself on the current situation inside the team: “I can’t say a lot but there are many things in the background that are happening. What is clear is that we do not have a car to fight for the championship and you have to make sure that we have a great car next year, so we must not waste too much time for this “. The English champion then added that his goal at this moment is to “try to build bases and try to positively influence these changes, so that there may be long -term success. Because there are many necessary changes” without however going into further details on what his interventions can be within the team in the near future.

STRATEGY

More concentrated on the trend on Sunday on the track, on the other hand, Charles Leclerc that during the race has long complained by radio for the strategic choices adopted: “I felt well with the hard tires – he explained in the post race regarding the request to adopt a different strategy compared to that then driven by his wall – he had confidence in the middle tires and I wanted to try, but it is also true that the wall has more data”. Leclerc then took part in the responsibilities of the weekend: “I was not in a good position for a Friday error in the FP1 and then I was also unlucky in qualifying”. He looks forward for Charles, who in Austria in two weeks will attempt the restart to bring the team back to second place in the manufacturers, waiting for a first podium of Hamilton who does not seem to arrive: “I am not influenced by the results of others – Charles reiterated – but it is certainly frustrating not to have a car to win”.
