President Ignazio Cassis greeted his colleague from a podium on the Bundesplatz in the capital. “We are impressed by the courage with which your people fight for freedom and peace,” he said.

Traditionally neutral Switzerland has largely adopted European Union sanctions against Russia. But there are wealthy Russians with ties to President Vladimir Putin who still do business in Switzerland and have not been hit by sanctions.

In his speech, Zelensky also criticized food company Nestlé, which, unlike many other multinationals, has not withdrawn from Russia.
