The German darts professionals Martin Schindler and Ricardo Pietreczko won the generations duel with the 71-year-old Paul Lim from Singapore at the team World Cup.
One day after the 4: 2 against Portugal, the duo prevailed against Lim and his partner Phuay Wei Tan (35) with 4: 0 in front of a home backdrop in the converted Frankfurt ice rink. A defeat would have meant the end of the local heroes.
The draw for the round of 16 shortly before midnight resulted in the difficult lot for Schindler/Pietreczko: Germany has to compete in the round of 16 against Topfavorit England with Luke Littler and Luke Humphries.
In Scotland against the Netherlands, the former world-class professional Glen Durrant released a second high-quality duel for the round of the last 16.
