In the shed of the coconut processor Dutch Plantin in Boekel, a fire raged on Friday evening. Bystanders saw smoke coming out of the shed and switched on the fire brigade. Around eleven o’clock the fire brigade expects to be busy for a while with the re -extinguishing of the smoldering remains coconut.

Bystanders saw smoke from the shed on the De Vlonder industrial estate around half past ten. They called in the fire brigade. The fire brigade went to the fire with two fire vehicles and water cars and quickly had the fire under control.

The smoldering piles of coconut have been taken out of the shed, pulled apart and extinguished. Smoke came from the rolling piles of coconut. Around eleven o’clock the Sein Brand Meester was given, but the fire brigade thinks it was still busy with re -extinguishing.

In 2022 there was still a big fire at the coconut processor. The fire brigade then spent hours extinguishing the fire in the shed. A lot of smoke was released during the fire, which closed the N605 between Volkel and Boekel in both directions.

The Brabant-Noordoost safety region also sent an NL Alert because of the smoke nuisance. At the time, about 10,000 tons of coconut was stored in the shed of the Dutch Plantin company, which was processed by the company into a kind of potting soil.
