The cannabis found in Haribo cola sweets did not end up in it during the production process. The Breda candy manufacturer announces this after research.
A Haribo spokesperson said that independent tests have been performed in a laboratory. They took place with preserved production monsters of the potentially affected party, the raw materials and products used during production that were already on the Dutch market.
According to him, all the results of these tests were negative. “Our internal studies also show that there were no irregularities within our production processes.”
Unclear
Haribo also reports that even according to the local authorities there are no indications that the contamination has occurred within the production locations of the candy manufacturer.
It remains unclear how the soft drugs ended up in the sweets. “We continue to work closely with the authorities to understand if there could be another explanation for these reports.”
Coma
According to the candy manufacturer, the reports were about one specific product in the east of the Netherlands, after which the whole party was recalled. It concerned kilo bags Haribo Happy Cola F! ZZ with January 2026 as a expiration date. Earlier this week, Hospital Group Twente (ZGT) confirmed that two children were treated in the toddler and toddler age who had fallen ill. One of them was in a coma for a while.
