Preparations for the Rock am Ring 2025 Festival have been running for weeks – and now it is finally that far. From June 6th to June 8th, around 100 artists appear on four stages. Many acts have been known for months. But the official starting shot on Friday afternoon surprised the fans: at 1:30 p.m. a Secret Act entered the stage at Rock am Ring: Electric Callboy. And the band had a special surprise in her luggage: a cover version of “In The End”, the Linkin Park classic.
Linkin Park: Rumors about headliner appearance
The choice of the song should not have been a coincidence. The rumor mill was bubbling for months: Linkin Park, for example, come back to Germany as headliners? Numerous signs indicated. The band recently celebrated a spectacular comeback with Emily Armstrong as the new singer, is currently on tour worldwide and plays several European festivals. Also: Linkin Park had been guests five times at Rock am Ring.
But the hopes were disappointed with the final band wave, Linkin Park did not appear in the line-up. Finally, Matt Schwarz, Managing Director of Eventim Live and Dreamhaus, officially destroyed the speculation in an interview with “Morecore.de” in 2024: “Linkin Park will not appear with us next year.” Although he made a personal offer to the band, the management decided against festival shows.
Electric Callboy as a musical consolation?
It may have been exactly this disappointed expectation horizon that Electric Callboy wanted to address at Rock am Ring with their performance. Whether consciously or unconsciously, you definitely have the hearts of some visitors: at least partly healed in the inside. The second secret act of the day came just as surprisingly: Roy Bianco & Die Abbrunzati Boys entered the main stage at 3 p.m. Then the regular program started on the Utopia Stage, with the hardcore band Knocked Loose.
MusikExpress is on site for you throughout the weekend and reports live from the festival site. Stay tuned!
