Beatie Wolfe is a name that you have to remember if you are interested in getting to know other types of music experience. The singer/songwriter from London wrote her thesis at the university via Leonard Cohen, at that time she realized: According to Cohen, everything is in principle sung, now it is about putting music in other contexts.
Wolfe sent her songs into space, visualized the climb to CO2 in the atmosphere in 800,000 years of human history, played pieces that can only be played digitally over a jacket, shaped by Michael Fish, responsible for the fashion of Bowie or Hendrix. Wolfe and innovation pioneer Brian Eno have known each other for a long time, now a joint work appears, divided into two albums.
Luminal offers eleven grandiose songs produced by Eno by Beatie Wolfe: Kosmische Americana, falls down, dreamy and in manyitis, not unlike the sounds that ENO developed for the Britpopper James in the early nineties. Lateral consists of a single, floating ambient track, more than an hour. Expectably beautiful and meditative, but interesting but only as an instrumental counterpart to the much more compelling luminal album.
