The protesters have renamed RoeterseilandCampus to the Alaa Al-Najjar Campus, the Palestinian pediatrician who lost her husband and nine children at an Israeli bombing. There are now about 15 tents on the field and there are around 50 protesters. There is no police and it is quiet there.

The UvA tells AT5 that they have been talking to the demonstrators on Monday afternoon. “We want to continue the conversation tomorrow,” said a spokesperson on behalf of the UvA. “We want to prevent escalation, so watch the situation for the time being.”

Advice

At the end of the afternoon, the UvA asked the Pro-Palestina protesters to break down the tents before 10 p.m. tonight, as advice regarding the safety of the protesters themselves. That advice remains this evening and no further action will be taken from the university, provided it remains calm. “As the demonstration is now, the UvA sees no reason to report,” said the spokesperson.

Barricades were built last May, but that is not the case now. An evacuation followed in the night, then there were more occupations.
