Despite years of controversy and his self-converting, public image decline, Michael Wendler is now trying to gain a foothold in the German entertainment industry. A desperate struggle against a perceived “Cancel Culture” – this is probably based on common sense instead of hatred or envy.

Michael Wendler: Nobody wants to sell their new album?

“MediaMarkt, Saturn, Amazon and other dealers do not want the new album of pop star Michael Wendler,” complains the administrator of his Facebook page (or the Wendler himself in the third person) about alleged difficulties in selling his new CD. “The reason for this is his corona-critical attitude, which apparently still makes him persona non grata.” His new album “Incredibly strong” is therefore available exclusively in a Linz online shop. “According to the motto: against censorship – for freedom!”

The dealer mentioned is an Austrian shop for, to put the least, “thinking” and oath. Research from the anti -fascist environment suggest that there are also closer relationships with neo -Nazis. This is not surprising, you can order in addition to T-shirts for free thinkers, prepper accessories and chakra massage bars, but also politically motivated stickers and brochures. The prices for the partly ram -shaped shop items are covered and should also be understood as a donation to like -minded people.

In this environment, Michael Wendler apparently seems to have made friends, because the pop singer apparently does not find out the self -realized “censorship” here. What he does not mention: his remaining fans can also stream the album that appeared at the end of March, it can be found at Spotify. Apparently not very many are interested in the record. For comparison: While his Schmonzette “Especially” has 27 million views, the most popular track from the new album just manages to view 85,000.

Appearance planned in Oberhausen

His planned appearance in Oberhausen was originally accompanied by protests and outrage. Many demanded that the singer, who had catapulted consciousness and radical statements into social off -the -sides during the pandemic, no longer offered a stage. Ticket sales run slowly – probably because of the rather high ticket prices. For a standing room you pay around 73 euros.
