Bayer Leverkusen is looking for a successor for defense chief Jonathan Tah. Malick Thiaw is said to have sparked the interest of the Werkself.

The departure from Jonathan Tah to FC Bayern leaves a big hole in the central defense of Bayer Leverkusen. This could be filled with Malick Thiaw from AC Milan. According to a report by the “kicker”, Leverkusen is interested in a commitment of the three -time German international.

At Milan, Thiaw came across 31 missions across competitions in the past season. As a eighth Milan missed the qualification for international business and is therefore dependent on transfer income in order to convert your own squad. According to “Transfermarkt.de”, Thiaw has a market value of 20 million euros. The 23-year-old moved from Schalke to Italy in the summer of 2022 for 9.3 million euros.

The native of Düsseldorf previously went through stations at Fortuna, Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach before making the leap to the professionals at S04 and won the second division championship in 2022. Now it could go back to Germany. In addition to Leverkusen, FC Bayern should also be interested in Thiaw, according to “Sport Bild”.

Thiaw is probably not the only candidate for reinforcement of the defense in the team of Neu-coach Erik Ten Hag. According to “kicker”, Mario Hermoso could be borrowed from AS Rome. The 29-year-old Spaniard came to Leverkusen in January and played a total of seven games for the Werkelf in the second half of the season.
