Finnish hockey Jesse Ylönen moves to Djurgården, reports Swedish magazine Expressen.
Djurgården won Sweden’s second highest league level in the past season and rises to the highest league level in the 2025-2026 SHL for the season.
-This is a really interesting player who has played for several seasons in North America and several games in Montreal. We do not see him as a ready product, but as a player we believe to take his game to the next level with good practice and good leadership, club GM Niklas Wikegård said according to Expressen.
Ylönen himself is happy for his new company.
– I’m very happy to get to Djurgården! It is an honor to get the opportunity in such a legendary team. I’ve heard that there [Tukholmassa] is the best supporters in the series and the loudest arena. Djurgården is facing exciting times and I look forward to being part of it. I will give my best to help the club with the greatest possible success, Ylönen said.
Ylönen returns to Europe after five years spent in North America. The Finnish dock began his NHL in the Montreal Canadiens organization, where he hockeyed in 2020-2024.
In the summer of 2024, a 25-year-old striker moved to the Tampa Bay Lighting organization, where he did not play any NHL matches.
The 2024-2025 season started at the Lightning AHL club in Syracuse Crunch, where he was traded in the Nashville Predators organization in the middle of the season. There was no playing time on Ylönen NHL club, but he played in the AHL team Milwaukee Admirals.
He had a total of 111 NHL matches.
