Back to home
Taina Elg went to work in Hollywood for decades in the United States, but moved back from New York to Finland in 2018. The boy’s mother’s move to his home country was delighted as they were able to meet each other weekly.
– In the beginning he still had friends here, like Lasse PöystI, but after all, many friends unfortunately died.
Björkenheim met his mother weekly.
– Often I played him guitar, told family news and news, and showed photos. In recent times, he was no longer able to move much, but he was alert and cheerful until the end.
The boy did not tell his mother about sad or shocking world events.
– He was a war child himself and remembered the bombing. I didn’t want to strain him on the war news at all. He probably still knew about them.
The last meeting between the mother and the son was at the time of his death on May 15.
– He was no longer present at the time, but I was beside him when he pulled his last breath. Of course, it was important for me to be with him.
