Warmer than wool, more breathable than synthetic high-tech fabrics and with natural patina: lambskin is an underestimated high-performance material. For the family -run company Werner Christ, it has been not only the material for over seven decades, but the foundation of a philosophy based on quality, responsibility and innovative strength. What started in the Rhineland-Palatinate Hunsrück in 1954 is today an internationally established brand for premium lambskin and leather products with its own tannery, CO2-neutral production and uncompromising claim to material, design and production.
Founded by Werner and Anni Christ, the company was shaped by the beginning by skills. The change to lambskin and leather processing in the 1960s marked the beginning of a specialization that still shapes the brand’s profile. In the meantime, the third generation is at the top with Katharina Christ-Schmid: “For me it was clear from the beginning that I wanted to work with our core material Lambskin, it was literally put in my cradle. The fashion industry is hard and not always clean. I see it as my job: to give our customers a good feeling inside at all levels.”
Vertical integration as a strategic advantage
The brand’s unique selling point is in full control over the entire value chain, from the selection of the raw materials to the tunning to the assembly. As early as 1983, the company invested in its own tannery in Uruguay, strategically located, with excellent access to raw goods and equipped with a factory sewage treatment plant. This infrastructure is complemented by a clothing operation in the Philippines, where over 200 employees work. “Our products are 100 percent fair,” emphasizes Christ-Schmid. The CO2-neutral production was awarded the “Corporate Carbon Footprint” label.
Lambskin: Of course intelligent
In contrast to synthetic alternatives such as “fake fur” or PU leather, Lambskin convinces with its unique combination of functionality, sustainability and natural aesthetics. It has a temperature-regulating effect, is windproof, breathable and surprisingly light, properties that make it a high-performance material of nature. At the same time, it is a long -lasting secondary product of the food industry. “Lambskin was already used in the Stone Age to protect itself from wind and weather, and basically nothing has changed,” explains Christ-Schmid. “It is a material with history that can be used at the same time.”

Werner Christ only processes skins that were obtained under species -appropriate conditions and without animal breeding for fashion purposes. The origin of the animals – whether from grazing or stable breeding – decides on density, structure and quality of the wool. The company’s own leather specialist: Inside, to identify the best raw materials, always with a focus on sustainability, traceability and technological feasibility. The dyes used correspond to the RAL standard and guarantee light keyness even in strong sunlight. The patented C3 impregnation process ensures protection against moisture and dirt without affecting the breathable properties of the natural material. This creates products that are easy to care for and value.
Timeless in design, innovative in implementation
The Werner Christ collections combine manual precision with a modern, urban understanding of design. Cross-season cuts, well thought-out details and changeable silhouettes create long-lasting favorite pieces for a stylish and value-conscious target group. The design process takes place in your own house, as is the constant expansion of digital sales channels, from your own online shop to social media and international platforms.

For the future, the focus is increasingly aimed at efficiency and clarity: “In the future, we will focus on selected measurement and relevant measurement and optimize our marketing budget. At the same time, we are tightening our collections on essential, well -selling Keypieces in order to specifically strengthen our market presence in high -quality trading houses,” said the management.
