The 1st FC Köln met the day after the Bundesliga promotion at the end of the season. So the celebrations merged practically seamlessly.
On Sunday evening, the professionals of the 1st FC Köln celebrated the return to the Bundesliga in the “Heising and Adelmann”. It should have gone high until late at night. Players and coaches, they all came to pour the season, which was still successful in the end.
So the eyes of many FC stars were covered by sunglasses on Monday when the FC family met a little more than 24 hours later. The billy goats had invited over 700 guests to the “Schrotty”, a very daring party location in Cologne – on a former scrap place for cars. If the climb had not been succeeded, many bad puns would have been close.
So players, coaches, employees and friends were allowed to celebrate. “It was happy yesterday,” said Mark Uth, who ended his career. “Some come here a bit tired today. You should counter with a counterbier. That’s why let’s see what happens today.”
Friedhelm Funkel joined this, who came with his wife Anja. “I have not made a fixed time for today. Spontaneity is the best thing you can do,” said the successful coach and saw himself forced to add a wink with his 71 years: “If I am in a good mood, it is no problem for me to keep up with me. I have slept enough.”
So the FC stars came together, some as a fashionable trendsetter in shirts of Prada or Dior, others in simple T-shirts and without frills. “I slept little, so I’m a little tired,” said Eric Martel, one of the match winners on Sunday. “Yesterday was an incredible feeling. It means a lot to me that we could give it back to the city and the fans. It is a special moment for everyone in Cologne.”
And so the promoters gave each other the renewed party command-and that with the blessing of those responsible. “You can hear it in my voice: we have already celebrated properly. Today we do it again,” said Managing Director Philipp Türoff. “It’s still a lot of strength in the tank for today.” And sports director Thomas Kessler added: “In Cologne we celebrate the festivals as they fall. All employees who are not in the spotlight work every day incredibly hard for 1. FC Köln. It is nice to get together with everyone today.”
