The championship played Ajax Amsterdam in a spectacular way within a few weeks. The trainer draws personal consequences a short time later.

Francesco Farioli is no longer a coach of Ajax Amsterdam. Just one day after the season finale, the Dutch record champion announced the separation. The 36-year-old Italian thus draws the consequence of the lost championship, which Ajax had to hand over to rival PSV Eindhoven five game days before the end.

Farioli justified his step with different opinions about the cooperation: Management and he would have the same goals for Ajax, but various ideas and time frames on how to achieve them. “In view of these differences in the principles and basics of the project, I feel deep in my heart that the best moment is now to go separate ways,” he said.

Alex Kroes, technical director of Ajax, was “incredibly disappointed” about the resignation of the coach, who had only signed a three -year contract a year ago. Farioli and his staff were “great help” the club, said Kroes. Despite an intensive season, the goal-the Champions League qualification-was achieved. Now the already difficult transfer window in summer will be “even more challenging”.

Farioli came to Amsterdam in the summer of 2024 when the club was in a sporting crisis. Media now connect with a possible switch to Tottenham Hotspur, where coaches are supposed to stand in front of the end. In the 2-0 win on the last matchday against Twente Enschede, Farioli broke out in tears after the final whistle.
