Axel Kicillof arrived last at the Federal Investment Council meeting in Paraná and left first. He left his stamp. It was not only because of his criticism of the commercial opening promoted by Javier Milei but for something more strategic: he sought to mark presence at a summit crossed by non -Peronist governors. Some of them, such as Rogelio Frigerio, governor of Entre Ríos, retouched him in public but then shared Mates in private.
The Kicillof movement is not less. While the fight with Cristina Kirchner hardens, explores a new profile: opponent of the national government but also dialoguist with its peers, regardless of political color. The goal is not in the photos. It is on the agenda.
During the meeting, the Buenos Aires governor stated that Argentina needs to redefine its development model. He used the case of the United States and the Trump era protectionist turn as an example of the new global climate: tariffs, industry defense, state intervention. In that context, he said, opening to the dumping is suicidal.
In parallel, in the province of Buenos Aires follows friction with hard Kirchnerism with an eye on the elections of September 7. Kicillof, by advancing the elections, seeks to provincialize the debate, reduce the impact of Milei on the conurbano and, incidentally, take off from a front of all that he considers in the terminal state. The intern with Cristina had her last chapter when the governor decided the unfolding without consulting. The answer was silence.
Meanwhile, the Kicillof team weapons its own for the Senate and the Provincial Chamber of Deputies. It aims to guarantee legislative majority and consolidate its own power. La Cámpora looks sideways.
In Paraná, Kicillof left a phrase: “This is resolved federally. Any other search will be a failure and not a solution.” He said it in front of Maximiliano Pullaro, Raúl Jalil, Sergio Zilotto, Ignacio Torres and Rogelio Frigerio. All with their own tensions, all with common problems: fall in co -participation, braking works, fiscal pressure. The meeting did not leave a joint document, but a postcard: the governors speaking with each other, without intermediaries. And Kicillof, building more than opposition.
