The ESC is only a few days away and in the last few meters Stefan Raab causes trouble for some. During a performance by the Swiss band Juicy Lemon Club in downtown Basel, Raab and a brass band stormed the stage to promote the German Act for the ESC.
Stefan Raab storms the stage and sings “Baller”
This year’s competition takes place in Basel and this is exactly where Stefan Raab has been staying for a few days. The entertainer, which has shaped Germany’s ESC appearances several times in the past, is in use this year as a mentor for the duo Abor & Tynna. The two represent Germany with the song “Baller” and Raab seems to do everything to make it known.
However, his youngest PR-Stunt met with mixed reactions. On Barfüsserplatz in downtown Basel, the local band Juicy Lemon Club was just performing at an open-air concert, as Raab-armed with megafon and accompanied by a brass band-suddenly stormed onto the stage and was “baller”.
The band is not very enthusiastic
A video of the scene later released the band on Instagram. It shows how the musicians get in the mood for a short time after a short hesitation – at least in part. “Next our bass player got in and jammed,” they write. But the mood apparently tipped quickly. “In the beginning it was fun, but to be honest, we didn’t feel treated with respect at all later,” it continues. And in the postal signature of the post, they ask provocative: “So we should all vote for Germany now ???”
It remains to be seen whether Stefan Raab actually provides more attention and points for Germany with this campaign. Perhaps he will follow the motto anyway: “Bad Publicity is good publicity.”
