Sports state minister Christiane Schenderlein warned a top sports reform.
“Sports funding has to be much more unbureaucratic and flexible,” said the CDU politicians in their inaugural speech in the Bundestag. “Athletes have to be able to concentrate on their sport without fears of existence.” However, the Minister of State did not do exactly how this should work for sport and volunteering.
The 43-year-old named “the application for the organization of the Olympic and Paralympic Games” as one of the great goals of the new federal government. It is “a real future task. Not only for sport, but it is a social mission and at the same time it supports the modernization of our country,” said Schenderlein.
Germany had recently failed several times with Olympic applications. The traffic light coalition had already cleared the way for a candidacy-the summer games 2040. Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Leipzig and the Rhein-Ruhr region have signaled interest.
From the daycare center to the Olympics
The Olympic application is the common goal of sport and politics in our country, confirmed Schenderlein.
“If you want to go up to the top in sports, if we think of the 2040 Olympic Games, our athletes are in daycare and primary school today. And here too: Together with the states, the municipalities and associations, we have to make Germany competitive again as a sports nation.”
The sports funding law still launched by the traffic light coalition is currently on ice. His centerpiece is the foundation of an independent sports agency to distribute the grant. The sport also hopes for a lot of money for the renovation and new construction of sports facilities.
