The exhibition – promoted by Department of Culture of Roma Capitale and Special Company Palaexpo, with the patronage of Roma Capitale, produced and organized by the Special Company PalaExpo with IMG – edited by Florence Muller, is an immersion in the world and in the creations of the two stylists with a new set -up designed to dialogue with the large exhibition space that acts as a scenography to over two hundred creations, between clothes, high -fashioned accessories and high fashion accessories and High tailoring, always celebrating Italian craftsmanship, suggestions and influences, from art, to architecture, from theater, to music.
Dolce & Gabbana, the exhibition arrives in Rome
Nigel Hurst, director of the IMG exhibitions, explained: «The real attraction of this exhibition is that it is a love letter open to Italian culture through the aim of Dolce & Gabbana. It is an act of generosity because we learn a lot about Italian crafts, on art through the centuries. And I believe that Dolce & Gabbana are unique in their kind, they absorbed and embraced all kinds of Italian culture through the entire spectrum and have used their artisan skill to translate it through their design and style ».
The exhibition is designed as a sensory journey, along immersive salt, as a film sets, with music, sounds, mirrors, particular sets, as if it were a large fashion catwalk open to the public. They can thus admire, in the section Handmadecreations inspired by the artisan techniques of the various Italian regions, making the atmospheres of Capri, Portofino, Naples, of the Sweet life. Or move to Venice, with the famous processing of the Murano glass, which is found in the precious clothes, in the jewels, in the materials with reflected surfaces that recall the splendor of the chandeliers, and then move on to the hall The gotopardo of Visconti.
The exhibition celebrates folklore and Sicilian, Sardinian traditions, the white Baroque inspired by the art of Giacomo Serpotta, revisited in the fabrics that seem carved in marble; Then there are the sumptuous models inspired by the work and ballet, the creations that pay homage to the masters of art, from Botticelli to Leonardo da Vinci, from Raffaello to Caravaggio; And again a dip in the atelier where the collections are created, between lace and ornaments, to close with a tribute to Milan, a city where their creations are born and realized, with a golden macramé lace dress that recalls the statue of the Madonnina above the Duomo.
Fashion, tradition, craftsmanship
Tradition and craftsmanship merge with modernity. Some visual artists who dialogue with the creativity of Dolce & Gabbana have been selected, such as Vittorio Bonace, author of the work Deus ex machinawhich welcomes visitors to the entrance. A set of ten works in which the Android figure mixes with humanity, finding a balance between past and future.
