A stolen Kakadu statue caused a stir at the master celebration of Bayern. Now her owner spoke up – and bequeathed the play to Bayern.
In the middle of the exuberant master celebration of FC Bayern, a curious star burst: A small porcelain Kakadu from the Munich scene restaurant “Käfer” has put itself quietly and secretly at the center of the celebrations-and should now even become permanent lucky charms for the club.
Restaurant chief Michael Käfer told the “Bild” that the Kakadu should “stay with Bavaria as long as possible”. He may be lucky and helped the club to win more titles soon.
The miniature figure was taken by the team after the party to the “sofa” championship last Sunday. Käfer reported: “They were just incredibly good and had fun. It’s the nice thing – they had fun and then took it with them.” In his opinion, the art object is worth around 1,000 euros.
Nevertheless, Käfer emphasized: “I don’t want to go back the Kakadu”. Rather, this trainer Vincent Kompany and the team should bring happiness. Käfer announced that Bavaria’s sports director Max Eberl will provide information about his decision by letter. The story makes him “incredibly proud,” said the restaurateur.
Anyone who took the Kakadu with them remains unclear. The association did not want to give any names on request. Co-coach Aaron thanks is considered a “main suspect”, as it is said. The Englishman reacted with a wink: “I know nothing. He is just my friend.”
At the official championship ceremony, the bird had his big appearance: Vincent Kompany put the statuette on the podium, where the master shell was previously placed and then raised by Thomas Müller.
Sky expert Lothar Matthäus described the background: The Kakadu had arrived so well when celebrating in the “Beetle” that he became a mascot and that he was taken away without further ado. Kompany then promised that he would be brought back. But it will probably not happen.
