The Dutch industry has a plan to support Ukraine faster and better from space. This by launching high -quality satellite systems. State Secretary Gijs Tuinman took the proposal ‘Military Use of Space‘received today in The Hague.
The satellites must be built accelerated. The aim is to detect radar and communication systems from space. With this they identify possible threats. For example, on the basis of satellite systems, Ukraine knows where goals of the enemy are located and the country can anticipate them.
Tuinman had previously asked the industry for an accelerated plan for this. It not only helps Ukraine, but also has to provide the own armed forces with more and better information. Dutch Defense Space Security Center Is interested in the extra satellite capacity for defense. This way our country can collect independent information.
The State Secretary is pleased with the sector’s proposal: “The urgency is great and we all realize. Money, knowledge and resources go hand in hand.”
5 Parties
5 parties participated in the proposal. First of all FSO. That specializes in laserSatellite communication. This technology has also been developed by Defense and TNO. Then vdl ETG. That works on the serial production of satellites. In addition Isispace. That already develops satellites for defense. TNO and NLR are permanent knowledge partners from Defense. Finally S[&]T, a technical company specialized in antennas, data processing and positioning, navigation and timing.
