At the World Relays in China on May 11th and 12th, the new seasons of the DLV are presenting for the first time. A large part of the World Cup tickets is also awarded there. The DLV completed the team for the season competition.
The German team in Guangzhou with 26 athletes in six competitions. They divide on the races over 4x100m and 4x400m, in which a men’s, a women’s and a mixed relay compete.
“The World Relays are an exciting and challenging format, there is already a large part of the World Cup tickets for Tokyo, and the past few years have shown that a lot can happen there and a lot is possible”said the senior national coach Sprint/hurdle Julian Reus. “We prepared well together in Kuala Lumpur and want to successfully initiate the new Olympic cycle in the seasons, with as many tickets as possible for the world championships.”
100 m relay with record holder Owen looked at
The relay occupations showed up in a preparatory training camp with a subsequent competition test in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). Among those who have now been nominated are the German record holder over 100 meters Owen (Hamburger SV), his club colleague Lucas viewed, Yannick Wolf (Cologne Athletics) and Kevin Kranz (Sprint Team Wetzlar), who were able to fuel the championships with a relay time of 38.26 seconds.
The sprint contingent of women leads the Olympic thirds with the season Rebekka Haase (sprint team Wetzlar) and Sophia Junk (LG Rhein-Wied). Due to different seasonal planning, not all athletes of the Olympic relay were available for nomination.
“In the year after the Olympic Games, putting together the seasons is particularly tricky because the athletes make their annual plans very differently with a view to the World Cup. Some familiar names are therefore missing, while others get their chance”said the Board of Competitive Sports, Jörg Bügner.
