In addition to rules regarding noise and drop shadow, the minister now also introduces distance rules for large windmills. Wind turbines that are higher than 200 meters will have to be at least three times as far from the first habitation. With a windmill of 250 meters, the distance to residential area must be at least 750 meters.
In concrete terms, this means that, among other things, a wind turbine on the De Biest district in Waregem, may not be a permit for the time being.
