The museum believes it is important that the stories about the war stay alive. Also to show to current generations, with the war in Ukraine in mind, how current it is. “History must be preserved and should not be lost. All the things we receive in, are assessed and registered. And of course we want to use it for exhibitions,” says IJskes

Last week the museum received good news, the old bowling next to the museum could be purchased so that it can be expanded soon. “We will soon get 3,000 square meter. We want to realize, among other things, an exhibition about the air war above the Netherlands. 6,000 planes have crashed. That is about three a day, all those war years long,” explains Lars Rustenburg.

Donation

Erik IJskes is now busy describing and documenting the things that have already been donated. He hopes that special materials will come in: “Letters, diaries, photos, pins or perhaps an old Stengun that is still somewhere in a farm. We are recommended.”
