At Kornwerderzand, the war remains: ‘Awareness is unfortunately desperately needed’

The celebration of 80 years of liberation will have a special interpretation on the Afsluitdijk at Kornwerderzand this year. On Sunday, Bloemen will be placed at the Kazemattenmuseum at the monument for Captain Christiaan Boers, who stopped the Germans here in the May days 1940 with his regiment. On Liberation Day, the traditional liberation fire also arrives here, which this year was personally collected by a group of runners in Normandy.
