Your life can be narrated with figures. He barely exceeds 30 years and already rescued about 80 dogs from the street. Live with 38 pichichos in a 2 -storey house that is 10 meters long, 5 wide and as many background. Blacksmith and electrician, Claudio Cocimano He currently makes a living in his native silver exercising those trades, but he worked 15 years in a row in Carrefour, supermarket in which they told him “leg” and where he met his partner, Tatiana Garroanother fan of dogs. Together they have an account of Instagram (@Labachimanada) that exceeds 460 thousand followers. There they show the process since they find an abandoned dog until it is in a position to be adopted, among other everyday situations of what it means to have pets. In the description of the account you read: “We are dogs that rescued two humans.”
While Claudio takes animals that are in vulnerable situations (abandoned, injured, lost, etc.), do not self -perceive “rescuer.” He points out that his house – the one who raised with his own hands following tutorials of YouTube masonry – is not a “pet refuge” (although he houses and gives temporal transit to dogs), but a home in which he simply coexists with copies of another species.
In that “animal temple” there are two well -differentiated environments. The ground floor is monopolized by dogs. There are no furniture (except for a small iron table) and has shelves on the walls, where objects are put to the shelter of “their four -legged children.”
On the upper floor – which is accessed by a neat and solid metal ladder Made in cocimano – Claudio and Tatiana sleep accompanied by 8 infant puppies that will surely be adopted, as well as almost everyone else who passes by transitarily while finding a home that wants them forever. As in the houses where there are small babies, the best schedule to chat with Claudio is that of the nap, when everyone sleeps and not a bark is heard. Just at noon he attended to this magazine.
News: How did you rescue the first dog?
Claudio Cocimano: One of the first cases was Olivia, a puppy behind the wheel of my car. That day I did not start by chance; If he turned back without seeing her, he killed her. I was trembling. I don’t know how I had reached my house, I suppose that because of a hole at the entrance. I say that life put it there, on my face and said: “Look in the eye.”
News: And what did you discover?
Cocimano: Those eyes told me: “I am afraid, I don’t know what to do, I just come to this world and I’m not understanding anything. All I want is to eat or be in a quiet place.” It was so much that connection that was generated, that I – who always respected the schedules too much – instead of going to work I went to a veterinarian to make it see, then I left it in my house and just from there I went to work. It moved me too much. From that day, I started seeing the same eyes in all dogs.
News: He barely exceeds 30 and already made his own house. At what age did you start working?
Cocimano: At 10. In 2000, they were difficult times … with a job alone (that of his father, police) did not reach 4 children. My old woman worked as a housewife, and now I understand that perhaps she worked much more, taking care of us. But well, I started working on the street, with my old man. As the mango is not enough, he sold flowers. Then I sold detergent, Budines … at Christmas I played sweet bread. He went out to make the cast with a bicycle that was multipurpose. As I didn’t understand the streets, my biggest brother accompanied me.
News: Meanwhile, the boys in the neighborhood played ball.
Cocimano: Yes. I saw them play freely … We had another need, there was no other way of surviving. That’s why we also joined cardboard. Perhaps, the day that the truck that withdrew everything we began to load the cards at 7 in the morning and ended at 10. At 14 more or less I started taking dimension of money.
News: Having started so small, did you mark it?
Cocimano: What marked me the most was at 16 or 17, when with my old man we started selling soda outside the court. The El Bosque area (where the stadiums of Gymnastics and Students are) was far from my house. I had some conservatives in my motito. I think that what marked me most then was sitting early, in the middle of winter, and that people pass by and look at me as detailed. Sometimes they didn’t even greeted me. They told you: “Che, how much do you sell the soda?” It was 1 weight and they asked me to leave 50 cents. They pichule me. I made a great effort to go there and what we won for each soda was not much … people had no sensitivity.
News: What else remember?
Cocimano: I remember the cold a lot, sometimes the night came, I was drizzling, we were loading everything and people did not turn to see you. I think that indifference is what links me with my animals today.
News: Because?
Cocimano: Because when I see them on the street, I see me when I was a kid. I see them abandoned there, without anyone looking at them … that is, people pass, capable of seeing a dog that is bleeding or has a bad leg, and they throw food and continue long. They do not see that the dog has other needs, which may be dying, or collided or left on the side of a route. That pushes me to do what we do with my partner in the bachimanada.
News: What are you looking for from that place?
Cocimano: Transmit love for animals and inform, not impose how each one has to have them. Soften the heart of someone bad, in a good way … If someone is harmful with animals, psychology is not going to say: “Che, this is wrong” because that person is going to get angry and sing “worth four.”
News: It sounds very peaceful, but in situations with dogs that are tied all day, does that peace retain?
Cocimano: In my work I had a partner who had his pitbull tied because he was supposedly bad. When they tell me: “He is a son of a bitch, but if I insult him, I move away from him and I don’t help change reality to that puppy.” Many humans think that dogs have the same psychology as us. Then they believe that when a pet breaks or bites something, he does it for harmful. They do not see that the only way they have to download their tension/anxiety, is through the jaw. There are people who begin to understand these issues and in a little change the mentality is changing.
News: With his co -worker, did he succeed?
Cocimano: Yes. His daughter began to follow our Instagram account, he saw that we have all loose dogs and well … I told him that if he were a dog and always had him tied to a place, he would also be angry and when they released him at the beginning he would perhaps be more bad. I do not say that we are going to achieve it with everyone, but I think that just as bad things are infecting, the good ones are also transmitted.
News: Do you feel them as your children?
Cocimano: Yes. They are of a species very similar to ours, only that we forget that – in the background – we are animals. When I hear the phrase “Eh, such a person is an animal,” I say no. An animal is never going to throw a bomb in a hospital where there are nenes or will make an aberrant rape … the human does those things. That is why I always say that I want to be more animal and less human.
News: Of all the stories he lived with animals, which one gives special satisfaction?
Cocimano: Many. For example, a time ago a woman from Córdoba wrote to me and told me that she followed us on Instagram, who saw the stories we uploaded to animals. He told me that a neighbor had an ovejero tied all day, then he gathered courage and was asking. She had depression because she had lost a child; It was very bad, he didn’t get out of bed. And yet he managed to take the dog! At first I didn’t know what to do. Then he went to the veterinarian, who discounted the chain he already had in his neck … What happened to the sheep? He asked to leave, so she began to walk with him. Now they go to the river together, and the dog made her discover places she did not know. In the end, he ended up rescuing her.
News: What would you like to happen with your life? What dream is there to be fulfilled?
Cocimano: You know that it is hard for me to think about the future … I have no goals, life takes me like the wind for any side. I always visualized that mine is going to help.
News: And to you, who helps, in addition to Tati, which is your right hand?
Cocimano: “El Gordo”, my dad (I say like that) now we are doing a counterpoint in my patio together. I learned from him, before we lived in a little box that he raised. Lung and 4 kids. He had no schedule, capable came from working at 9 p.m. And that has epilepsy. More than once he got on a ladder and when he revoked a wall he gave him an attack and fell. And my old woman always running to grab her head … I have her school.
