The long-standing dominance on sand finally seems to be with the four-time French Open winner Iga Swiatek: The 23-year-old Polish was swept off the WTA tournament in Madrid as the defending champion in the semi-final by the American Coco Gauff with 1: 6, 1: 6 and is around three weeks before the French Open in Paris (May 25th to June 8th)) deep crisis.
Gauff meets the number one in the world in the final: Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus defeated Ukrainian Elina Switolina 6: 3, 7: 5 late Thursday evening.
