Spotify Plant the introduction of a new, much more expensive subscription model in Germany in the summer of 2025. It currently operates under the work titles “Super Premium” and “Music Pro”.
This deluxe subscription is aimed primarily at music fans with high demands on excellent sound. In addition, further additional functions should justify the planned (but not yet final) price of 16 to 18 euros per month. It would be five to seven euros more expensive than the previous premium subscription.
Spotify Super Premium: Possible functions contained
The new “Super Premium” subscription should offer several exclusive features that go beyond the normal premium offer, including: Loss-free audio quality (Lossless streaming) and AI-based remixing tools.
These functions are clearly based on offers from competitors such as Tidal, Apple Music and Amazon Music. These streaming services have been offering hi-fi quality and some special features for music lovers for some time. In the past, musicians in particular complained about streaming in the lowest audio quality as a big problem of Spotify. The most prominent critic: Neil Young.
In addition, Spotify wants his new “Super Premium” subscription with one preferred access to concert tickets and possibly (and so far still unconfirmed!) One Pre-listening function for new songs and albums equip for selected acts. The last completed deals with deals with Universal Music and Warner Music brought an indication of this. Finally, the streamer added a playlist function to show concerts nearby.
Although the introduction of the new offer for summer 2025 is expected, there is no official announcement of Spotify for the exact start date or all details for Germany.
Industry experts, however, assume that the new subscription model will be introduced promptly, possibly already in June. In the past, the Swedish streaming giant had often indicated a high quality offensive and then postponed again.
Price increase for the premium subscription
In parallel to the introduction of the “Super Premium” subscription, Spotify plans a general Price increase for all existing subscription models in Germany. From June 2025, prices for the individual subscription from 10.99 euros to 11.99 euros, the duo subscription from 14.99 euros to EUR 15.99, the family subscription from EUR 17.99 to 18.99 euros and the student subscription from 5.99 euros to 6.99 euros.
The price increase is justified with increased license costs, new content and technological developments.
