Minister Weyts still sends experts on site for an investigation. In the consultation, the archaeologists can only point out the importance of the castle. And that is big. Probably built by Diederik of Alsace, in the third most important city in Flanders.

“We are sitting here with that wall that goes back to that twelfth century. We are sitting with the wall of the count of Flanders in its third most important city. We can hardly overestimate the site in terms of importance. It is one of the most important sites of medieval Flanders. The more we look, the more we see that we have been the same with the twins, but may not have been the same of the counting stone in Ghent.”

On Tuesday there is again consultation between the city, Flanders and the owner. If you want to see the castle with their own eyes, you can take a look on Sunday afternoon.
