Hélène Hendriks thinks it is pretty hypocritical that Arjen Lubach has called on television to boycotting premium brands such as Coca-Cola and Calvé. “He will be paid by that!”
It is quite laughable: Arjen Lubach has called on the RTL 4-viewer not to buy premium brands in the supermarket anymore, because the Coca Colas and Calvé’s of this world would artificially high prices. What the problem is exactly is unclear – people with a small grant already buy a private label – but Arjen apparently wants to make a point.
Through the corridors
Arjen’s argument is not very credible, because it is precisely the Coca-Colas and Calvé’s of this world that fill the commercial blocks around his program and thereby pay his salary. “Of course, Arjen’s salary must be paid for something,” said Tina Nijkamp TV authority.
Tina thinks that the television boss of RTL, Peter van der Vorst, agrees. “Are they already walking through the corridors with each other there?” Wilfred Genee asks Today Inside at Studiogast Aran Bade.
“Not too bad”
Aran is of course from Kamp-RTL and tries to see the sensitivity around Arjens item downplay. “Lubach and Peter? About those advertisements and that those A-brands should not be purchased? It’s not too bad.”
René van der Gijp: “It is a non-item, Joh. I mean: A-brands … Do you think people who have a small fair buy A-brands? Of course not man!”
Hélène critical
Table guest Hélène thinks it is hypocritical of Arjen. “In itself it is good that he is independent, on the other hand: Tina Nijkamp also said it in her column, and I was very good at that he is paid by those A-brands.”
Wilfred: “Of course he wants to show his independence very clearly.”
Hélène: “I think that’s great that he does that. On the one hand you have independence, on the other: you do work at a commercial broadcaster, isn’t it, with premium brands that sponsor you.”
Very satisfied
Wilfred wants to know from Aran if he has heard something in the corridors. “So they are very satisfied at the moment? Nothing wrong at all?”
Aran: “I don’t think they are on the road for a month now. The viewing figures are going well.”
Johan Derksen: “Semi-intellectual Netherlands likes this. I tried to like it, but I don’t like it. Do you like it?”
Aran does not dare to answer: “I find it difficult …”
“You don’t dare!”
Aran’s reaction is not very surprising. RTL Boulevard stars who say something unpleasant in their own house on their thunder, was apparent from the Linda-Kniprel around his colleague Rob Goossens.
Johan: “No, you don’t like it, but you don’t dare say it.”
Aran: “No, I dare to say it. I don’t think it’s my humor, but I understand very well …”
Johan: “You don’t like it?”
Aran reluctantly: “I just find it difficult sometimes. What you just say, René, such an item about A-brands, I no longer have a feeling at all.”
Unnatural
Johan doesn’t like Arjen at all. “I can’t imagine that people are amused looking at a gentleman who has an autocue and reads all the jokes there. That is so unnatural.”
A little later Aran judges that Arjen has no laughing band, René says: “Of course it is a laughing band, old giant. Things are said that are not at all fun and the people are laughing at the pleuris. That really can’t.”
Johan: “No, exactly.”
Wilfred: “Certainly not if those stubborn people pass by who are not comfortable in it!”
