Jangle-Pop played a major role on the two-year-old debut of tenderness, the influence of bands like The Smiths was unmistakable. A song also seemed to negotiate Clever Morrisse’s disappointing trials and tribulations without giving any specific names. Pop songs, the second album of the quartet, looks a bit rough.

This applies to the “Vienna” earwig, “fear” and also the rocky title song. The band avoids uniqueness and prefers to be ambivalent. But you can feel what it is about: the lyrical self goes in search of the lost time. In the particularly melodic “Mixtape”, Andreas Fischer sings melancholy of attics and archived past, which has developed a life of its own. “Poor role model” sounds rather cheerful, but devotes disillusions and earlier heroes to see through today. Tobias Emmerich’s catchy guitar game fits the ambiguous texts. Finally, a band thinks of people who lock up at home in spring and have not forgotten this diffuse fear from the infinitely long school holidays. These pop songs are clearly great.
