Sanne Wallis de Vries sees himself as the discoverer of Paulien Cornelisse, the successor of Maarten van Rossem as jury member of De Slimste Mens. “My uncle was dubbing about her,” she says.

It is really known who will be the new jury member of the smartest man, namely Paulien Cornelisse. There has been a fairly moderate response to her arrival and that is good news for the writer, because that means that there are relatively few people who hate her. Where does Paulien actually come from? Who discovered her?

Sanne as a discoverer

Sanne Wallis de Vries says that she played a crucial role in the rise of Paulien. She knows her from the comedytrain. “My uncle impresario Pim Wallis de Vries was dubbing if he would take her in his stable,” says the cabaretière De Telegraaf.

She continues: “That resulted in me going to look a few times and gave some feedback because I had already made some solo performances. People often found that we looked alike in terms of confusion and humor.”

Enjoy

Never before has Sanne said anything about this. “We did not make the collaboration publicly, but when she received the Neerlands Hoop prize I was quietly enjoying at home, even though she might have received that price without me.”

She continues: “She has found her own style and built an empire around it on her own. I am also very happy with her columns. She has been in England for a while and then you look at our national character from a distance. Then you see it even sharper.”

Very funny

Sanne thinks Paulien is a top choice for the jury of De Slimste Mens. “I always find it very funny when she cites facts or facts in columns that you think:” Oh, is that? “

“I hope she goes a bit on that bike as a jury member.”
