Two brothers, two lives – a legendary father. Sean Ono Lennon (49) and Julian Lennon (62) wear the same last name as a beatle, but what connects it is probably her unconditional love of brothers, as they now explain themselves.

Sean Ono Lennon spoke out in a personal Instagram story against comparisons with his half-brother Julian Lennon and at the same time clarified that there is no hostility between the two. On the contrary: the relationship of the two sons by John Lennon († 40) is characterized by deep friendship and love.

In a black and white photo that Sean Ono Lennon posted in his Instagram story, he and his siblings can be seen together at the ceremony for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986, where they honored Elvis Presley († 42) together. He wrote: “We do not accept any comparisons and no faulty claims about disputes between the two people that John Lennon loved most: his children. Peace and very, very much love.”

More laughter than arguments

Sean Ono Lennon is the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono (92), while Julian Lennon comes from John Lennon’s first marriage to Cynthia Lennon (75). The relationship between the two brothers is always the subject of public speculation. But Julian Lennon has clearly rejected these rumors several times. Already in 2023 he said in an interview with “Esquire” about the alleged feud: “Such nonsense. We have never argued in our lives.” Julian Lennon continues: “I posted many happy pictures of us – we do nothing but laugh, smile and behave like idiots. That was important to me – for peace and for the family – because in the past there have definitely been friction between everyone. But we all get a little older, and when we get older, we humans lose, and we become clear what really matters in life.”

Beatles insider = none

Despite the close bond, Julian Lennon recently admitted that he would not belong to the inner circle of Beatles: “I am grateful that Sean and I understand each other blindingly – we are the best buddy, and he tells me what he can do, but as far as the Beatles is concerned, a lot is pretty secret.”

Sean Ono Lennon has also been actively involved in work around his father’s legacy outside of the relationship with his brother. Among other things, he was responsible for the audio processing of the concert recordings for the documentation “One To One: John & Yoko” (2024).

In an interview, he also spoke about the effect of John Lennon’s death on his mother Yoko Ono: “She never solved herself from this relationship.” He described his parents’ love as “Legendary Love” – a legendary love.

Julian Lennon, too, always spoke openly about his ambivalent relationship with his father’s work. In the interview about the Beatles song “Hey Jude”, which was originally written for him: “It is undoubtedly a nice thought. But I was only a child, and the song was written about myself and the separation of my parents-I probably heard it too often, and at some point it just drove me crazy.”
